In 770, Dingolfing was mentioned for the first time. In 1251 Dingolfing gained the town ordinances and privileges. The boom years at the end of the late middle ages were followed by wars, like the thirty years´war or the austrian-french succession wars in 1743. Until the end of the 19th century, Dingolfing stayed a small town with a distinctive craftsmen structure. That changed explicitly in 1880, when the first railroad was established. The involving development of handcraft into industry formed the city and the surrounding areas.
